Sustainability reporting

Sustainability reporting is an important element of the sustainability process at OVGU. The reporting aims to communicate the diverse activities at OVGU and at the same time to evaluate the progress made in implementing the sustainability strategy and, if necessary, to initiate new measures. The two reports in 2015 and 2018 show a different approach. The intended reporting is based on the university-specific sustainability code and is currently being prepared (September 2022).

1 Sustainability Report 2015

The report is the result of the work in the first year of the Sustainability Office. While the process of reporting was initiated by the Sustainability Office, the input of data was done by various offices. The Office of the Registrar coordinated the preparation of various key figures and information from operations, the Student Council provided information and assessments from the student body, and academics from across the university were asked to assess their research projects and courses with sustainability relevance by means of a survey. The basis for the first sustainability report was the University Sustainability Assessment Framework for the Netherlands (UniSAF-NL), which was transferred to the situation in Germany by a master's thesis at the same time as the first report was prepared. The first report should not be evaluated in terms of its completeness. It should be seen as a first step. On the one hand, students were responsible for the preparation, whose time resources were limited. On the other hand, many data and key figures were not collected or not collected in digital form, which made it difficult to collect and include them in the report.

2nd Sustainability Report 2018

The 2018 Sustainability Report aims to communicate how successfully the University is working to achieve the goals it has set for itself. It shows how comprehensive OVGU's efforts are. The status of all 31 goals is presented so that the success of implemented measures can be assessed in the future. At numerous points, the pages of the report are not sufficient to present all aspects. Interested parties will find a great deal of background information and supplements on the subject of operations, research and teaching.
