Through its research into aspects of sustainability, OVGU supports public debate. By generating scientific insights, OVGU contributes, within its application-oriented disciplines, to the description and implementation of sustainable development and the associated societal changes. In addition to disciplinary approaches, trans- and interdisciplinary research approaches also play important roles in addressing societal challenges.

The aim of sustainability in research is to support researchers in their work on aspects of sustainability, to establish a link between research content and sustainability, and to design research processes in a sustainable manner. The Sustainability Office offers substantive support for this on request.
