Sustainability at the OVGU

OVGU recognises sustainability as one of its core values and has formulated sustainable goals for all areas of the university in 2018. On the following pages you will find further information and explanations on the understanding of sustainability and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

As part of EU GREEN, the kiplin step counting challenge is once again taking place at OVGU this year. The aim is to run as actively as possible through the spring and count steps together with the partners of the EU GREEN Alliance.
The challenge starts on April 28 and runs (in the truest sense of the word) until May 18, 2025.

As part of the OVGU garbage collection campaign (CleanUp campaign), a large-scale spring cleaning will take place on April 15, from 14:00 - 16:00!

Together with volunteers and students, we want to clear the campus of garbage and start the new semester together. There will be free coffee & cake and a raffle with great prizes for all hard-working helpers.

Volunteers, initiatives, associations and groups from Magdeburg - watch out! You are in demand! Everyone is welcome to organize an event. We are happy to support you!

This year, from 10-17 June, the Eco-Social University Days will be dedicated to social interaction and community spirit in Magdeburg as part of a “Together Festival”. In this form you can introduce yourself and let us know what kind of event your initiative can imagine for the Together Festival.

In addition to our networking and events at OVGU, the sustainability office supervises and coordinates projects outside the university. For example, the KlimaPlanReal project, which brings together universities and colleges in Saxony-Anhalt on the path to climate neutrality, is supported from our office.
